Key Takeaways

  • Tokenization Models: Three distinct approaches emerge: issuer-led tokenization where companies directly tokenize official shares with same CUSIP and registration statements, back-office tokens used by NYSE and Nasdaq for settlement acceleration, and bootleg tokens where third parties buy stocks and issue derivative tracking tokens primarily for offshore investors without KYC requirements.
  • RWA Perps Market Shift: Hyperliquid HIP-3 markets hit $800M open interest with Trade.xyz becoming seventh largest perp DEX. Eight of top ten markets are real world assets, primarily precious metals and indices rather than individual equities. Mobile usage patterns suggest new user cohorts beyond existing crypto traders entering these markets.
  • Crypto Trader Migration: Crypto traders demonstrate asset-agnostic speculation behavior, moving to precious metals and commodities when crypto volatility declines. This cohort resembles generational shifts seen in poker players and Robinhood users, suggesting exchanges must evolve into everything-exchanges to retain users rather than crypto-only platforms.
  • Agent Coding Adoption: Anthropic engineering teams operate entirely on Claude Code without writing code manually, only reviewing diffs. Companies report 95% LLM subscription adoption with 40% using Anthropic, 30% Cursor. Effective use requires unlearning traditional software engineering practices, transforming engineers into engineering managers overseeing AI output.
  • Startup Cost Structure: Agent coding fundamentally changes software startup economics by reducing primary cost driver. New startups built ground-up for agentic workflows will iterate faster and spend differently than pre-agent companies. Hiring CTOs experienced with agentic development becomes critical differentiator, with code base LLM-readability serving as quality benchmark.

What It Covers

Discussion of tokenization models and agent-based automation.

Notable Moment

An Anthropic researcher revealed his entire team abandoned traditional IDEs and now works exclusively through Claude Code, never writing code manually. They function purely as code reviewers examining diffs before merging. This represents a complete inversion of software engineering where developers become managers directing AI agents rather than writing implementation themselves.

They've completely forgotten about crypto or, like, not forgotten, but they're just like that toy. They've, you know, the Toy Story meme. They just, like, threw away the doll. It feels like I don't wanna play with you anymore. Yeah. Exactly. It feels like that a little bit. Not a dividend. It's a tale of coupon. Now your losses are on someone else's balance sheet. Generally speaking, air drops are kind of pointless anyways. I made the trading firms who were very involved. I like that eat the ultimate, honestly. DeFi protocols are the antidote to this problem. Hello, everybody. Welcome to the chopping block. Every couple weeks, the four of us get together and give the industry insider's perspective on the crypto topics of the day. So quick intro. First, we got Tom, the DeFi maven and master of memes. Hello, everyone. Next, we got Robert, the crypto connoisseur and czar of Super State. Good morning. Next, we got Tarun, the giga brain, and grand poobah at gauntlet. Yo. And finally, I'm Hassid, the head hype man at Dragonfly. We're early stage investors in crypto, but I want to caveat that nothing we say here is investment advice, legal advice, or even life advice. Please see chopping blocks at x y z for more disclosures. So, mister Czar of Super State, congratulations. You got some big news. Super State just announced that they raised 82 and a half million to, quote, unquote, bring Wall Street on chain led by Bain Capital Crypto, Distributed Global, Galaxy Digital, HON Ventures, Brevin Howard. Talk to us about what's going on in Super State land, and, obviously, congratulations from from from us. Thank you. Well, Super State last really raised a series a in August 2023. So it's actually been quite some time since we raised capital. Since then, as a company, we were able to prove out the sort of, like, early primitives of tokenization of securities in an issuer first non wrapper model. We launched two funds. Today, USTB is a T Bell fund. USCC is a high yield basis fund. Those are over a billion dollars of AUM, and we've begun to prove out the tokenization of equities. Last year, we brought Galaxy Digital and Sharpen Gaming and Forward Industries. Their shares onto Solana and Ethereum really is a test case to prove out the mechanics of what does it look like to tokenize the security, and what does it look like when it's the same stock that trades on the Nasdaq or or the New York Stock Exchange …
