Key Takeaways
- ✓Motherhood Redefined: Motherhood extends beyond biological children to sponsoring life through service—caring for elderly, animals, mentoring others, or supporting family. This mother energy flows through everyone regardless of gender, offering unconditional love, acceptance, and compassion that heals individuals and communities through daily interactions.
- ✓Surrender Over Control: Parents possess influence but not control over children's paths. Accepting what life offers rather than forcing desired outcomes creates peace and opens unexpected blessings. The Serenity Prayer framework—accepting unchangeable circumstances, changing what you can, knowing the difference—applies to parenting and personal growth alike.
- ✓Self-Nurturing Foundation: Before effectively mothering others, individuals must learn to nurture themselves first, similar to airplane oxygen mask protocol. Sage's two-decade fertility journey taught her to extend the same care inward that she naturally gave others, creating wholeness necessary for healthy parenting and life sponsorship.
- ✓Observe More, Do Less: Following Magda Gerber's RIE philosophy, parents should respect children's innate intelligence as active learners and self-teachers. Minimize interrupting their natural exploration and wonder. Avoid constant entertainment through devices or overstimulating toys, allowing quiet reflection time for children to experience their own essence.
- ✓Modern Family Constellations: Family structures evolve beyond traditional models—blended families, chosen family, single parents through surrogacy, co-parenting arrangements. Following heart and intuition creates unique, beautiful family configurations that often surpass original expectations, meeting children's needs for love through diverse, courageous choices.

Well, hello there, and welcome to a special edition of the Tony Robbins podcast. My name is Mary b, and I'm here with Sage Robbins. Hello, Mary b. Hello, Sage Robbins. And, you know, we're sitting down and the impetus of this, edition, this episode of the podcast happens to be Mother's Day twenty twenty two. But we wanna make a special announcement right out of the gates in that we don't want this to be another podcast that's just for moms, for moms, by moms. That's not what this is at all. So disclaimer right right on the upfront that this is a conversation for everyone. And having said that, I do wanna ask you, Sage, what is motherhood to you? And then why should everyone stick around for this conversation? Don't don't turn it off yet if you're like, uh-oh. Here we go. A conversation for for moms again. Well, it's it's beautiful. Thank you, Mary b. Mhmm. You know, I think the definition and the reality of motherhood has evolved over the years for myself. And experientially, you know, my own path to actually being a biological mother and being a mother, has been over a twenty one year flight. And, what I recognize now having a child is that mother energy has been alive in me always. And, as a younger woman, I wanted that selfish identity or or longing to be a mother. And, at times when I didn't recognize the gift of, like, mother energies were already flowing through me, you know, I think the almost like a a broader view from today's standpoint, the way I perceive it is and the way I experience it is motherhood is really it's it's sponsoring a life. And, I've had the gift we've had the gift. You know, we're both new moms at this stage to experience that with a child, and yet I also recognize that every day of my life, every day of all of our lives, life gives us an opportunity to serve life, to sponsor life, to, you know, to support life, to love life and, an individual, whether that be through, you know, helping support an animal or, you know, taking care of our parents. I think that's the beautiful gift of this rhythm and this cycle of life if life comes full circle and allows us to touch it in a meaningful way. So I think whether we're male, we're female, we all have both, you know, mother and father energies within us. And I you know, at this stage, I think just the awareness of and, the cultivation of mother energies is what really heals. You know, if you think of every great, especially a mother who is well in mind, you know, she has that capacity to unconditionally, love, accept, allow, understand. You know, she's compassionate even if, you know, her beloved or her child, has behavior that's maybe less desirable. There still may be consequences, but there's …
