654: UI + State, AI Missing Context But Adds Browsers, and Scalability on the Web

Alright. Back in the saddle. Do you think our tagline needs some updates? We're good. We're still talking front end web design development. Last 10 episodes have been out about AI. Did you already say it? Because I just I did. Yeah. Loses by my brain. Friend design and development. Yeah. I think that's okay. Or maybe just Yeah. Development. Less design these days. But once upon a time, we had actual designers on the show. Yeah. I mean, I still fantasize about it and think of myself in that way. Because I you know, I just saw some, like, meta conversation today. I have people be like, where do you go? You know, kind of in the it's not that dribble's dead. It's just has it's just weird these days. You know? It just doesn't have quite the same inspirational, modern feel to it or something. When it became a place to get a job, it shifted radically. It it just Mhmm. It turned into this, like, I don't know, just like these fantasy showcases sort of. You know? It it was it was interesting. So yep. And then, you know, so it was like I still think of it. Like, once in a while, I still go there, and then I'll I'll type in I always never get quite what I want because sometimes I'm looking for a pattern. Like, usually, it's something like a menu or a footer or a drop down or a card or a listing of blog posts or something. Like, I I want something boring like that, and and then I wanna see, like, a amazing take on it. Mhmm. Mhmm. But it's that seems hard to find because the search terms are so boring Yeah. But you type in that you just you get unrelated stuff. And I, yeah, I I kinda can't blame them because I've we've faced that same kinda issue at at CodePen. It's it's hard. I had a I have an issue. So I had that do you might remember that blog post I wrote about UI as a function of states, and it's just a like a big super list, a mega list of all the crap, all the states that are in UI. Right? Seems like such a simple concept. Right? You're like, oh, there's the the UI has a bit of state to it, and then it looks the way that that state needs to look. And you're like, oh, well, what composes that state then, Dave? Yeah. Well, here's, 9,000 things. You know? And you think like, oh, component state. Is button open, you know, or whatever, and it's, like, super way more than that. You know? Right. That's your state. That's like which can be complex in its own …
