Key Takeaways
- ✓Intent Engineering over Prompt Engineering: Stop crafting hyper-engineered text prompts and instead have a 3-4 minute voice conversation with Claude explaining your problem and desired outcome. Grace built her entire proposal system by speaking into the Claude mobile app on a walk, letting Claude reverse-engineer the solution and propose a password-protected interactive HTML artifact.
- ✓Skill Files as Reusable Business SOPs: Document your workflows as versioned markdown skill files — a proposal maker, a voice guide, and a pipeline operator — that Claude can invoke automatically. Grace's pipeline runs hourly, checks client progress, generates branded HTML proposals, and fires pre-session questionnaires, replacing roughly 20 hours of weekly admin work.
- ✓Voice Guide as a "Think Like Me" System: Build a Claude voice guide that goes beyond tone and word choice to capture your decision-making philosophy. Update it continuously via voice notes — for example, flagging LinkedIn clichés to avoid. This file auto-loads across nearly every Claude session, preventing AI-generated slop and maintaining consistent client-facing communication.
- ✓Rebuild Gmail Inside Claude CoWork: Start Claude Code with the single instruction "I hate Gmail, rebuild it," connect Google account permissions via a custom Google Cloud service account, then hand off the session to CoWork via a markdown file. The result is a branded email triage interface that drafts replies and pushes them to Gmail drafts without opening Gmail directly.
- ✓Muscle Memory as the Real Adoption Barrier: The primary obstacle to AI adoption is not technical skill — it is default behavior. Set a Slack or calendar reminder to screenshot whatever task you are avoiding and paste it into Claude with the question "can you help me with this?" This single forcing function builds the habit of deferring to Claude before attempting tasks manually.
What It Covers
AI teacher and marketing consultant Grace Clark demonstrates how she built a client pipeline operator, branded HTML proposals, and a Gmail replacement using Claude Code — showing small business owners how to automate relationship-driven workflows through conversational prompting rather than technical expertise, running entirely on voice notes and mobile.

Notable Moment
Grace revealed that giving students pre-built, detailed prompts to accelerate early wins actually backfired — students needed to experience the collaborative back-and-forth process itself, not just the output. The lesson shifted her entire teaching approach from prompt delivery to behavioral habit formation.

Prompt engineering is dead, but intent engineering is where we need to be focusing our time. I do a lot of work when I'm walking and on the go. And I spoke maybe for two or three minutes and just said, here's my problem. Claude came back to me and said, I think we need to be creating an interactive artifact that's password protected. That is a prompt going from a hyper engineered chunk of text to a conversation that's three or four minutes. Claude needs to get the prompt out of you. You have another example at the personal level as a fellow email hater. What did Gmail do to us? What did Gmail do? I know it was once upon a time amazing. It is like everybody has a key to your front door and can come leave things in your house. No more. I wanna show you what I built out of pure frustration. Send in Gmail. This will push it to Gmail a draft, and then hopefully open up a browser window and get it the extra mile. This gets me pretty much where I wanna go because I can go back in here and work with Claude and chat and have the reply drafted, or I can just send it and never have to deal with it again. My job is to sit over your shoulder and smack your hands every time you open Slack or Gmail or Google Calendar and say, no, Claude. People need to feel the benefits in order to keep using it. That's actually not true. Instead, people mostly need to understand that we're gonna learn to collaborate. The real hump to get over is defaulting to this and building the muscle memory of simply opening an app. Welcome back to How I AI. I'm Claire Vaux, product leader and AI obsessive, here on a mission to help you build better with these new tools. Today, I have Grace Clark, and she's gonna show us Claude for normal people, but not really for normal people. For people who wanna show up to their clients and to the many, many, many people in their inbox with a level of personalization and professionalism that only an AI agent can provide. Let's get to it. This episode is brought to you by bolt.new, the AI app builder for people who have ideas and want to ship them. Most AI tools spit out code that looks great in a demo and falls apart the second you try to do anything real with it, or they lock you into their own platform with no real way out. Bolt is different. You describe what you wanna build, a startup MVP, a landing page, an internal tool, a side project, And Bolt generates production ready code in minutes. Connect Stripe or any other MCP, hook up your domain, and deploy it live. Founders are using Bolt to build businesses doing real revenue. Product managers are shipping prototypes their …
